CODED IR BEACON (CIRB)
Application
The CI
multi-purpose Coded IR Beacon (CIRB) produces a
full hemisphere of illumination which can be
seen over long distances through Night Vision
Goggles but is invisible to the naked eye. The
covert nature of the beacon makes it ideal for a
wide range of uses including the identification
of friendly forces, the marking of drop zones,
RV’s and landing areas.
Description
The CIRB is
a high power covert signaling/identification
device, which can be set to one of 15 pre-coded
flash sequences by touching two metal contacts
within 10 seconds of power-up. If no sequence is
selected the device will flash the last code
entered.
At power-up, a series of four LEDs (red, green,
blue and amber) indicate which code was
activated at last use. If the contacts are not
touched within 10 seconds of power-up the device
reverts to this code. However, if the contacts
are touched, the device cycles through each of
the available codes until the touch is removed.
During this process the indicator LEDs will
indicate each of the codes. After 10 seconds of
inactivity the selected code will be stored in
memory, the indicator lights will extinguish and
the IR LEDs will emit the chosen flash code
until the battery is disconnected or expires.
The CIRB, because of its microprocessor control,
provides extremely accurate and consistent flash
timing. Communicating the code of the day is
achieved by defining the colour sequence of the
required code eg. Red / Blue.
