Infra-Red Identification Beacon
Illumination from
the CI Defence IRIB cannot been seen with the
naked eye but can be seen from up to 12 miles
using GEN III Night Vision Goggles (NVG). The
beacons can be used to identify friendly forces,
mark locations and routes.
The light sources employed in this equipment
have a MTBF of 100,000 hours and emit infra red
radiation. The beacon has multi mode operation,
flash or continuous selected by a push button
switch on the rear of the unit.

quality, but as a guide expect between 12 - 24
hours, flash mode and 4 - 8hours, continuous
mode.
