Cost savings

CI LUDs provide a means of strengthening existing bridge sub-structures at far lower costs than by conventional methods. Further cost savings result from the operator's ability to keep the structure open during installation; this contrasts with the disruption to traffic normally occasioned by more conventional strengthening work.
 

On new structures, the force sharing made possible by CI LUDs allows the required strength to be achieved with a simpler and less expensive structure.

CI LUDs require virtually no maintenance.
